In Science, we aim to encourage a curiosity for our planet and the living things that share it. We want our pupils to appreciate its diversity and learn how to protect it and live sustainably. We also recognise Science as a core subject and therefore plan to ensure the coverage, depth and time that it rightfully deserves on our weekly timetable. Successful Science teaching not only develops understanding of the subject but also an enquiring mind set. We want our children to be Scientists who think, observe and enjoy working practically and methodically. Our science curriculum is also delivered in a themed approach over two-year cycles for KS1, lower and upper KS2. In a small school like ours, it is impossible to cover every programme of study at the suggested time, however, we can ensure that whatever they are learning about and when, children demonstrate age-appropriate principles of working scientifically.
