At Kirkby Thore we understand that the use of technology is embedded into our children’s present and future. Our curriculum has been designed to support our pupils to develop their skills so that they can use technology safely in their everyday life now and ensure they have the necessary skills for their next steps as learners and adults.
We deliver our computing curriculum through a combination of daily activities on iPads, laptops and the LBQ app as well as long term coverage via Purple Mash. This online platform allows us to engage students with interactive, creative activities across a wide range of topics such as coding, data handling, digital art, and online safety. Purple Mash provides a safe, supportive environment where students (via their own personal log in) can explore their ideas and build digital literacy skills in line with the National Curriculum. Through its rich library of resources and tools, our pupils gain essential knowledge in areas such as algorithms, programming, and digital communication.
In addition to technical skills, our curriculum integrates cross-curricular learning opportunities, enabling students to apply their computing knowledge in subjects such as mathematics, science, and art.
Every pupil at Kikrby Thore School has their own Ipad device. Our computing curriculum ensures that all students become competent, creative, and responsible users of technology, equipped with the skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
