Admissions can be made in-year or at the start of each academic year.
Requests for Reception places should be completed by mid-January through Westmorland and Furness Council. However, the school will accept applications for in-year admissions at any time.

Our Nursery Children join our Reception and Year 1 children in our Acorns class.
We are now offering Nursery spaces starting in September, January and April for 3 year olds. Your child can join our Acorns class the term after they turn 3 years old.

We are very flexible regarding Nursery days, and we are happy for your child to do as much or little as you feel works for them. A morning session runs from 8.45 – 11.45. An afternoon session starts at 12.30. Depending on your circumstances, you will either be eligible for 15 hours or 30 hours of government funded hours. If you would like your child to do more than that, then we charge £4.00 an hour. Please note you can use government funded hours for clubs.
We understand that starting Nursery, especially in a school setting can be daunting, therefore, if you would like to take advantage of some of our free transition sessions before your child starts, then please let us know.
Join us on the first Monday of the month in the afternoons from 1.30pm for our Little Learners play group. Mums, dads, grandparents, babies and toddlers are all welcome. Come a join in with our Nursery and Reception class as they explore the world around them following a carefully crafted framework of EYFS curriculum coverage
Activities including craft, messy play and story time will both spark their imagination and respond to their developing interests as we get to know them and welcome them into the Kirkby Thore Family
